5 Common Mistakes That Damage Your Cup Sealer (And How to Avoid Them)

Your cup sealer is the heart of your Bubble Tea business. If it stops, your production stops. At iPack Technology, after years of exporting machinery from Taiwan to global markets, we’ve found that most technical issues can be prevented with these 5 tips.

1. Dirty Sensors: The Silent Enemy

The most common error is allowing syrup or fructose to splash onto the optical sensors. If the sensor is "blind," the machine won’t detect the cup or stop the sealing film at the right spot.

• The Solution: Clean the sensors daily with a dry microfiber cloth or a bit of isopropyl alcohol. You’ll notice the difference in precision immediately!

2. Forcing the Cup Sealer Temperature

Many operators crank the heat above 180°C, thinking it will seal "faster." This only burns the film and wears out the heating element prematurely.

• The Solution: For our IETP-98S and standard PP films, the ideal range is between 160°C and 165°C. If the seal isn’t perfect, check the pressure, not just the heat.

3. Lack of Lubrication on Rails

A machine making strange noises is a machine that is suffering. The rails where the tray slides in and out must move smoothly.

• The Solution: Apply a drop of light machine oil (or food-grade grease) to the side guides once a month. This reduces the load on the motor and prevents costly repairs.

4. Incorrect Sealing Film Alignment

If the sealing roll is not perfectly centered, the cutting blades will wear unevenly, and your seal will look "chewed".

• The Solution: Always ensure you use the plastic retainers (butterfly clips) so the roll doesn't wobble during operation.

5. Aggressive Power-Off

After a long day of sales, it’s tempting to just unplug everything. However, the heat plate stays at high temperatures and can affect nearby electronic components if there’s no ventilation.

• The Solution: Turn off the heat switch first and let the machine run for about 5 minutes so the internal fan can cool the system before fully disconnecting it.
